Built between night feeds, in a quiet kitchen.
Nurturly began the way most baby apps probably should — with two tired parents and a notebook on the counter.
In the autumn of 2024, our daughter was born. The clinical apps we tried felt like spreadsheets. The cute ones felt like toys. None of them felt like the quiet, sacred thing we were actually living through.
So one Sunday, between feeds, we started sketching what a calmer tracker might look like. Soft colors. One tap to log. A timeline you'd want to scroll through years later. No streaks. No alerts shouting at 3 a.m. No surprise upsells that pop up exactly when you're holding a sleeping baby.
We called it Nurturly because that's the word our oldest used when she'd describe the way her grandmother held the new baby — gently, unhurriedly, with both hands.
Today, Nurturly is a small team of parents, designers, and engineers across Lisbon, Berlin, and Toronto. We answer our own support emails. We log our own babies. The app is built around the days we'd want to remember and the nights we'd rather forget.
If we ever stop building it that way, we'll close it down before we ruin it.
Five small principles that keep us honest.
Calm beats clever.
If a feature requires a tutorial, we redesign it. If it can't be explained in one sentence to a sleep-deprived parent, it doesn't ship.
Privacy is a promise, not a setting.
Encrypted by default. No tracking. No data brokers. We make money the old-fashioned way — people pay us for software they like.
Memory matters more than metrics.
The point isn't a 47-day streak. It's that, ten years from now, you can scroll back and find the night your baby first slept through.
Parenting takes a village.
We build for the partner, the grandparent, the sitter, the friend. Tracking should bring people closer, not lock anyone out.
Small & ours.
No outside investors, no growth-at-all-costs roadmap. We grow at the pace that lets us still answer every email by Friday.
The next eighteen years matter.
We design Nurturly for the long arc — first smile to first day of school. Our software should age beautifully, like a keepsake box.
The little team behind it.
Four humans, three babies, one cat. We answer support ourselves.
